Rob Jenkin
Bio
Rob has been working at the Runners Shop for over two decades. That’s a lot of
shoes out the door! His expertise and patience are second to none and we are convinced that there is no other person working in a run speciality store in Toronto with as much experience.
How did you get into running?
Back in 1983, a university roommate convinced me to run a marathon. The rest is history, as they say.
What’s the biggest change in shoes you’ve seen over the last two decades?
The barefoot revolution. It brought so many lightweight, performance shoes to market as alternatives to the heavy shoes that were once the norm.
What’s the craziest thing that ever happened to you in a race?
A guy in front of me had his big crazy sunglasses fall off. As he bent down to pick them up, I was forced to make a flying leap over him to keep from stepping on them or the glasses. He then proceeded to chase me down, embraced me in a bear hug and thanked me profusely for not stepping on his glasses. He kept up the thanks for another four miles!
Where can find you when you’re not in the store or out running?
On my Harley, cruising the highways of North America.
