Tara Lapstra
Bio
Tara is one of our long-time sales staff and always game

for an adventure. Monday mornings are usually spent shaking our heads at Tara’s weekend accomplishments – an epic ride, a speedy long run, a fundraiser, and often, tales of some weird concoction from her kitchen. Does this woman ever sit down?!!
Don’t be shy – tell us about some of your athletic accomplishments?
Triathlon Ontario Masters Duathlete of the Year 2017, 2018, 2019. Silver medalist in Standard Duathlon, Denmark Multisport AG Worlds 2018 and bronze in Spain 2019. 4 triathlons under my belt, including overcoming my terror of the swim and placing 3rd at Barrelman 70.3.
So, you’re a cyclist too?
The bike has become a staple in my training – and fun. I rode 500k to celebrate my 50th birthday in 2021, a solo 330K to prepare, along with a fun Driveway to Dock (Toronto to Haliburton) with great friends. In 2019, there was 800+ km fundraising ride for camp Ooch, from Toronto to Times Square – all with the most amazing people.
What's it like to compete for Canada on an international stage?
Worlds is something special. I work hard to bring my best to the start line. Being rewarded with a podium finish is something I will always cherish, not to mention the wonderful friendships I've gained along the way.
What do you like best about working at The Runners Shop?
Meeting new people every day. TRS customers are truly amazing – their positivity and stories of epic challenges both on and off the course are truly inspiring. You might think a run-specialty shop would appeal to a niche crowd, but the range of life experience is incredible, from people of all ages fighting for their mobility, to elite athletes with awe-inspiring dedication to their sport.
